New 2018 Honda Fit Gets More Attitude

Posted by Community Honda on July 22, 2017

The 2018 model year brings significant updates to the third generation of the versatile 5-door subcompact Honda Fit including fresh sportier styling, a more dynamic and refined driving experience, new Sport trim, and substantially upgraded technology and premium features. In a first for Fit, the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced safety and driver assistive technologies including Collision Mitigation Braking™ (CMBS™) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) is available on all Fit models and standard on EX and above trims. This makes Fit the most affordable car in America with such a robust offering of safety and driver-assistive features and the only vehicle within its segment to do so.

Exterior and Interior
The 2018 Honda Fit features updated and sportier styling, including a lower and wider appearance thanks to new front and rear fascia, a more sophisticated two-piece chrome and piano black grille, and new wheel finishes. Overall length of the 2018 Fit increases to 161.4 inches (+1.4) for LX, EX and EX-L models while Sport's unique aero kit adds an additional 0.4 inches (161.8).

For 2018, the Fit offers an expanded exterior color palette with two exciting new options – Helios Yellow and Orange Fury. Carryover colors include White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Milano Red and Aegean Blue Metallic. EX and above trims also feature a new two-tone finish on the 16-inch alloy wheels with machined spokes and gloss-black inserts.

The new Fit Sport trim features an even more aggressive and sporty look with aero form features at the front, sides and rear, integrated fog lights, and a low and sharp front splitter highlighted in bright orange. An exclusive gloss-black finish on the 16-inch alloy wheels further adds to the sporty look. At the rear, a three-strake diffuser with bright orange upper trim line, chrome exhaust finisher and Sport badge complete the Fit Sport's distinct exterior styling.

On the inside, the Fit Sport distinguishes itself with a black interior with unique cross-hatched fabric for the seats and door trim. The exterior's orange accent theme continues inside with bright orange stitching on the seats, console-mounted armrest, and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Features and Technology
For 2018, the Fit is offered in LX, EX, and EX-L trims, along with a new Sport trim positioned between LX and EX – each generously equipped. Standard features on all Fit models include rearview camera, tailgate spoiler, auto on-off headlights, LED brake lights, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and a center storage console with armrest. All 2018 Fits feature a redesigned driver's meter with a large analog speedometer and digital tachometer. Models equipped with HondaSensing® receive a 4.2-inch Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) Driver Information Interface (DII) color display offering additional selectable information including available turn-by-turn directions.

The Fit Sport builds off the LX with exclusive interior trim featuring black cross-hatched fabric and orange accent stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters on CVT models. In addition, the Sport model gains premium features found on EX trims including Honda's 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen interface with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, and a 180-watt six-speaker audio system.

The Fit EX includes Honda Sensing® standard on both CVT and 6MT models. This marks the first application of Honda's suite of advanced safety and driver assistive features to a model equipped with a manual transmission. The Fit EX also gains Honda LaneWatch™, XM Radio, variable intermittent wipers, Push Button Start, Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock®, a one-touch power moonroof, and new sliding sunvisors.

The top trim Fit EX-L also includes Honda Sensing as well as leather-trimmed seats with 2-level heating for the front, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and available navigation with HD Traffic and HD Radio.

Day Trips in Your New Honda

Posted by Community Honda on July 14, 2017

Once you get your new Honda from Community Honda, you'll want to experience the smooth ride for more than the time it takes you to drive from the dealership to your home. Instead of heading home, take a day trip – or if it’s late in the day, plan a day trip for another day or a weekend trip.

Parks: Pack a picnic and spend the day at a local park. If you’re the type to get out and about early, pack breakfast and lunch – cook breakfast out on the grill. If you like to hike, be sure to bring your hiking shoes as many parks offer hiking trails. You’ll feel brand new after a day of complete relaxation.

Museums: If you’re the type who likes art and science, make a day of visiting Houston’s museums. When you’re finished, have dinner at your favorite restaurant, then head out for some dancing.

Scenic Drives: Here’s another one that you might want to pack a picnic or prepare to stop in at a new restaurant – new to you, that is. Take a drive along any of the many scenic routes near Houston. Stop in at a restaurant that you’ve never been to before. Or, you can pick a park and enjoy nature while eating your lunch.

Movies: If it’s too hot to do outdoor stuff, plan on dinner and a movie. This is fun especially if you don’t go out often because of work or other responsibilities. If you have kids, take the kids with you this time – leave the babysitter at home – and enjoy a family outing.

Mall Hopping: If museums and outdoor things don’t interest you and you’ve already seen the newest movies, find a mall that you’ve never been to before. Visit the mall for some shopping, but leave some room on the credit card because mall hopping involves more than one mall. If there is another mall within a couple hour’s drive, head over to that mall, too, just to see what is new and interesting.

While out on your adventures in your new Community Honda, be sure to take pictures of the new sights. Make sure you get a picture of yourself with your new Honda and send them to us to show us how much you are enjoying your new car.

Maintaining Your Honda During the Summer

Posted by Community Honda on June 30, 2017

Keep the sun out of most of the interior to protect the materials by using a sun blocker. While a sun blocker in the windshield doesn’t keep all of the sun out, it does keep the majority out. If your vehicle has tinted windows, that also helps. The sun will do the most damage to the dash pad and vinyl or leather seats. It also fades cloth seats and carpeting.

Detail the inside of the vehicle with products that are designed to keep leather and vinyl soft and supple. When you keep the material protected from the sun and properly maintained, the dash pad and seats will last longer.

Use floor mats over the carpet where you can to keep the carpet from fading. You can even lay an old towel across the carpet in places the floor mats don’t cover.

Be sure to wash and wax the exterior frequently. The sun tends to fade the paint. Though there isn’t much you can do about that, washing and waxing does keep a protective coating on the paint. If your vehicle has clear coat on it, the sun could cause the clear coat to dull and peel. Waxing often increases the time it takes for the clear coat to start peeling.

To keep black rubber bumpers looking great all the time, use products designed to bring out the luster in the bumpers. If the bumpers are the same color as the vehicle, wax them instead. If the bumpers are chrome, all you need to do is a little cleaning and polishing. The elements tend to wear the chrome off if it’s allowed to get too dirty.

Honda Dealer Near Houston Offers Car Battery Maintenance Tips

Honda battery service near Houston

A car battery is like a human heart; without it, the car would not be working. Without a healthy car battery, the complex parts that make it up would not be used the way they should be. It is important for drivers to take care of their car battery, as it is vital to the life of their car. Luckily for shoppers, our Honda service center near Houston has helpful car battery maintenance tips. Check out the tips below:

Park in a Garage

When parked in an insulated garage, the car battery remains warm. Heated garages will rust the vehicle, but a well insulated garage will keep the car and its battery in great shape.

Keep it Clean

Drivers should often remove the clamps and clean away any grease, dirt, and oxidation around the battery. Filthy battery connections will weaken the charge, decreasing the battery’s life. For those who experience battery troubles, our Honda service specials help drivers near Houston get great deals on exceptional service.

Recharge it With Solar

This is a great way to prolong the life of any car battery. An inexpensive solar charger can be purchased and solar energy can enter the battery, which in return is a great way to maintain its life.

Secure the Battery

A loose battery is never a good one. If the car battery is jiggling around, it could easily tip over. Not only that, but this loose battery could damage other parts it may hit. Spilling acid may also damage the motor, so it is vital to keep it secured.

Car batteries are full of toxic chemicals that must be dealt with specially when they die. While it may seem easy to do such a thing, it could be quite difficult. Therefore, it is important for drivers to take care of their car battery all-year-round, and the tips above can help motorists do just that. There are many other ways to do so, so don’t be afraid to research more ways on how to maintain car battery.

To learn more about how we can help with all of your battery needs, feel free to contact Community Honda by calling us at (855) 347-4655.

Summer Travel Tips for Your Honda

Posted by Superior Honda on June 16, 2017

Taking care of your Honda is part of what you need to do before traveling. Even if your vehicle is new, you should have it checked before you leave on a road trip. Our service technicians at Community Honda will check your Honda's hoses, belts, tires, brakes, suspension, steering and more to ensure that nothing looks like it might wear out on your trip.

Plan Your Trip

Even if you like to be spontaneous, you should have some idea of where you are going so that you can call ahead for hotel reservations. Even if it's just a few hours ahead of time, you'll have time to find another hotel if your first choice has no vacancy.

If you plan on heading into remote areas, be sure you know where gas stations are on the route or that you have enough gas before you hit the remote area. Of course, you should have your emergency kit packed with extra food and water – non-perishable high energy food.

One other aspect of planning your trip, even if you are going to be spontaneous, is to know the general area so that you can pack the appropriate clothing.

Things that Should Stay in Your Honda

In addition to your tire-changing tools, emergency kit and first aid kit, be sure you have some simple tools including a regular screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, star bit, pliers and an adjustable wrench. If a bulb goes out, you'll be able to change it – or if your vehicle's battery decides it's had enough, you'll be able to change the battery yourself if there isn't a Honda dealership in the area. Star bits come in different sizes, so if the covers on your lights use one, be sure you have the right size.

Visit Community Honda

Call Community Honda's service department to set up an appointment to have your vehicle checked or serviced. If you are considering a new vehicle, stop by our showroom for a test drive – you'll be able to take your new Honda on that road trip. Be sure to pack your emergency kit in the new Honda, too.

Create the Perfect Burger for National Hamburger Month!

Posted by Community Honda on May 26, 2017

It's National Hamburger Month and that means you have to create the perfect burger to celebrate. This also means no plain burgers. Instead, make “house” burgers. These burgers have a few requirements: They have to be at least 2 inches thick and have to have plenty of stuff added to them. After you test drive a new vehicle from Community Honda, stop by the grocery to pick up the ingredients you need for these great burgers.

Boondock House Burgers

  • 2 pounds Angus ground beef
  • ½ c. bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup spaghetti sauce, American chop suey sauce or tomato sauce
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 2 tsp. Black pepper
  • 2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. Onion powder
  • ½ tsp. Cayenne pepper
  • 1 slice of your favorite cheese for each burger
  • 1 slice cooked bacon for each burger

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients except the bacon and cheese thoroughly. Form 2-inch thick burgers. Cook the burgers on the grill until they are at least medium. Be sure to flip the burgers just once. For the last two minutes of cooking time, top each burger with a slice of bacon and a slice of cheese. Cook until the cheese melts.

Toppings

Set out toppings for everyone including mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, sweet relish, dill relish, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion slices and cooked mushrooms.

Tips

Don't press on the burgers while they are cooking. You'll squeeze out all of the juices that give the burger its flavor.

Use hamburger with less fat content – 80/20 instead of 75/25 – to have less shrinkage. Putting a thumbprint in the center of each burger also helps with shrinkage.

If you are using a spaghetti sauce or chop suey sauce that isn't very spicy, you could increase the amount of any or all of the spices to suit your taste.

Many Coupes Enter, One Coupe Leaves

Posted by Community Honda on May 19, 2017

It used to be a crowded market, but now there's only one survivor. The economy coupe is now only represented by the Honda Civic Coupe after the Kia Forte Koup stopped production due to poor sales in a market that's been shifting to crossovers due to cheap gas.

Despite the shifting market, consumers still show interest in the Honda Civic Coupe, which managed to beat the Forte Koup in nearly every category while still having a lower MSRP.

With the demise of the Forte Koup, it's either the Honda Civic Coupe or moving into larger, less practical models in the next tier up.

Visit Community Honda

If you're curious as to why the Honda Civic Coupe is the only one left, come give one a test drive and find out. Stop by Community Honda today to test drive it, to check out other Honda vehicles, or to scheduler some maintenance service at the service department at Community Honda.

Honda Fuel Cell Technology Shows Us the Future

2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid

The more and more we learn about how harmful fuel emissions can be, the more and more ways we are looking to limit them. Not only are fuel emissions harmful to the environment, but fuel can also be a bit pricey, which is why Honda has been looking for alternative energy. While there are many ways to improve gas mileage, such as routine car maintenance to ensure your honda is in great shape, that doesn’t take away from the fact that shoppers near Pasadena TX are releasing fumes into the air. The latest fuel technology to reduce emissions and fuel costs is called “hydrogen fuel-cell technology," which Honda is a big supporter of.

While the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is paving the way for more hydrogen fueled cars to get out on the roads, we wanted to talk about how Hydrogen Fuel Cell power works. This incredibly clean energy source works by mixing hydrogen gas with natural oxygen to generate energy, which then is stored in a battery used to power the car’s motor. What type of residue does this generate? Water residue, which drips from the exhaust. In other words: harmless.

Honda Shoppers Near Pasadena TX Can Keep the Air Clean

2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid interior

While this method sounds like a no-brainer, there are a few obstacles when producing hydrogen. Hydrogen can be produced by using renewable sources, but it can be a bit expensive. Heating natural gases in the presence of steam and a nickel catalyst is the cheapest way to produce hydrogen, but it also is dangerous as it produces a lot of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Kiyoshi Shimzu, who is a project leader for the Clarity Fuel Cell, says hydrogen can be obtained as a byproduct from steel production.

Our Honda dealer serving Pasadena TX is very excited to develop this technology so our customers can spend less on gas and spend more time out on the road. Our environment is something we need to take care of, and this Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology is one way to do that.

To learn more about this technology and how beneficial it is, contact Community Honda by calling us at (855) 347-4655.

Honda Dealer Near Houston TX Shares Car Care Travel Tips

Honda wiper blade service near Houston TX

Summer is right around the corner, and while you may be ready for the season change, your car might not be. While your mind may be on the beach and how much sunscreen you need to buy, you should also be thinking about ways you can maintain your car through the summer months.

Luckily, our Honda service center near Houston TX understands that summertime brings plenty of travel, so we have provided a few car care travel tips below:

Tip #1: Check Your Wipers

With summer sun comes summer showers, which is why your vehicle’s wiper blades must be in great shape. Worn wipers can put drivers in serious danger, as streaks can hinder the driver's ability to see. Be sure to check that your wipers are in great shape, and get them replaced if they don’t work the way they should.

Honda tire service near Houston TX

Tip #2: Make Sure the Air-Conditioning Works

I mean, this one seems obvious, but it is a must-do. Make sure there is enough refrigerant in the system, and if there is not, there is a leak. While there are many leak-sealing products, our trained-technicians would be happy to take a look and help fix the problem. Keep an eye out for service specials as our service center near Houston TX is happy to provide Honda maintenance at a great low price.

Tip #3: Stay Aware of Your Car’s Tires

The changing of the weather brings along some changes in tire pressure. Not only should drivers keep an eye on their tire pressure after filling them up for the season, but they should also make sure the tires tread is free of any stones, cracks, and wear. Healthy tires are always important, and with a season full of driving ahead, being prepared can do wonders.

While these tips are some of our favorites, there are plenty more tips for your travels this summer. To learn more about how you can stay prepared, please contact Community Honda by calling us at (855) 347-4655.

Honda Maintenance

Road Trip Essentials

Posted by Community Honda on May 12, 2017

When you are getting ready for a road trip, be sure you have your vehicle checked before you leave. Even if you've just had maintenance done on it in the past few months, it's a good idea to schedule an appointment with Community Honda so our service technicians can check the fluids, make sure there are no new leaks, and check the brakes, tires, steering and suspension. You'll also have to check your emergency kit and make sure you have everything else packed including extra medications.

Emergency Kit

Be sure to check your emergency kit. Don't assume that you remember not using anything out of it. And, if you haven't rotated non-perishable high-energy food and the water, that should be done before you leave unless those things haven't been in your pack for more than six months. Double check expiration dates on any food products and on batteries.

Check the batteries in the flashlight and the extra batteries. Replace anything that is out of date or will run it's useful life during the trip. This also includes any anti-bacterial creams and other medications in the first aid kit.

A Fresh Start

If you don't have an emergency kit, you should put one together. Your kit should contain extra blankets, an extra jacket for everyone in the vehicle – during warmer months, a rain jacket with a removable liner is best, high-energy food, extra water – at least a quart for every person in the vehicle, a large first aid kit, flares, emergency triangles, tools to change a tire, standard and Phillips screwdrivers and pliers.

The first aid kit should include bandages of several sizes, anti-bacterial cream or spray, tape, tweezers, needle and thread, eye wash, tongue depressors, an Ace bandage, gauze and alcohol prep swabs at a minimum.

Visit Community Honda

Be sure to have your vehicle checked by our service technicians at Community Honda before you head out on a road trip. If you plan on getting a new vehicle this summer, test drive your vehicle of choice before you leave – then you can take the road trip in a brand new car!

Best Texas Roadtrip Destinations in Spring

Posted by Community Honda on April 21, 2017

If you're looking for a great place to take a road trip in Texas pick something that you haven't done before. Look at the Mystery Lights, find some dinosaur bones, find some gems and more. Before you head out, be sure to have your vehicle checked or serviced at Community Honda.

Dinosaur Valley State Park

Head over to Glen Rose to visit Dinosaur Valley State Park. The park is located on the Paluxy River and features dinosaur prints and tons of dinosaur-themed things. The sandstone, limestone and mudstone that were deposited in the area about 113 million years ago are part of the shoreline of what was an ancient sea. Learn more about dinosaurs while you have a relaxing trip to the area.

Marfa's Mystery Lights

Drive to Marfa to see the mystery lights. They usually appear in the clear night sky between Marfa and Paisano Pass. The lights show up in the southwest as you're facing the Chinanti Mountains. The first time these lights were spotted was circa 1883 – and people still have not figured out what causes the lights.

Hunt for Natural Topaz

Go over to Mason County to hunt for natural topaz – the state gem of Texas. You'll find the gem in ravines and streambeds in Mason County. Many of the ranches in the area will allow you to find gems – and will even set you up with all of the equipment you need to hunt for Topaz, though most are closed for deer season.

Enchanted Rock

Visit the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area to see this huge pink granite dome that has its own legend. The Comanche, Tonkawa and Apache tribes all believe the area is magical. The rock creaks and groans at night. While scientists say its from the rock cooling down at night from the heat of the sun, the native tribes believe the noises were from ghost fires.

Tips for Traveling with Pets

Posted by Community Honda on April 17, 2017

Many people consider their pets as part of the family and often travel. If you are new to pet ownership or new to traveling with a pet, certain things can make traveling with your pet safer and easier. You may have extra stops, issues with pets being car sick, watering and feeding on a long trip and more. You'll also have to safely tether your pets in a vehicle, which means you have to have a pet-appropriate vehicle.

Traveling with Large Dogs

Large dogs should be crated or should be wearing a seat belt. This means that a sedan might not be large enough. If you are in the market for a new vehicle that will accommodate your pet on road trips, stop by Community Honda to pick out the perfect vehicle.

If your large or medium-sized dog can lay comfortably on the back seat, you can purchase pet seat belts. Otherwise, your pet should be crated in an SUV.

Breaks

Have water and food available for your pet. If your pet is crated in an SUV and the crate is large enough, you'll be able to tie a bucket of water to the crate. If your pet is used to eating more than once per day, be sure you allot extra time to stop and feed your pet. Of course, along with food and water, potty breaks become necessary. Watch your pet for signs that it needs “out” or you're going to have a mess to clean up!

Car Sickness

Some animals, no matter how much they like to ride, tend to get car sick. Before you leave, call your vet to ask if Dramamine is safe for your pet and what the dosage should be. The dosage will depend on the pet's size so don't just assume you can give a typical human does and be safe.

Visit Community Honda

Be sure to stop by Community Honda to choose a vehicle that will safety accommodate your pets if you decide to travel with your pets. Dogs need to be crated or belted in; and cats and birds need to be crated – even if a bird can't fly, it should be crated for its safety.

2018 Odyssey: Refreshing Design

Posted by Community Honda on March 25, 2017

The 2018 Honda Odyssey made an appearance at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month, marking its public debut.

Adopting the low and wide "flying wing" grille that's featured on other Honda vehicles, the 2018 Odyssey sports a brand-new look that still manages to retain the general appearance of previous Odysseys, which makes it new but readily identifiable. Perhaps the most notable update to the Odyssey's exterior is that the sliding door tracks have been removed from the body and tucked underneath the rear quarter window.

The 2018 Odyssey also has a new seating configuration, which suits the family-toting van and makes moving people around more comfortable. Honda's Magic Slide second row seat allows for five different seating positions along the rail, and is easy to bypass for third-row passengers. Even if you have two rear-facing child safety seats, the middle seats still have room to allow access to the third row from either side of the vehicle.

This is the Odyssey's fifth generation and will feature ten-speed transmission, Honda's first vehicle to do so. Though MPG estimates have not been released, Honda projects it will be class leading thanks in part to a 96-pound weight reduction and active grille shutters that reduce drag.

The front wheel drive is boosted by a 3.5-liter direct injection V-6 engine that puts out 280 horsepower.

The Odyssey will be manufactured in the United States in Alabama and Georgia and is set to arrive at Honda dealerships sometime this spring, at which time pricing will be announced.

Top Reasons You Should Own a Honda Civic

Posted by Community Honda on February 24, 2017

If the 2017 Honda Civic isn't on your short list of vehicles to check out, it should be. Here are some of the top reasons why you should consider owning a Civic.

A Joy to Drive

Eminently practical, efficient, and comfortable, the Civic is nevertheless a sporty vehicle. Even the bast trim level comes with a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter normally-aspirated engine. The continuously variable transmission is an alternative to an automatic transmission that makes it feel more like you're driving a manual. You can also go with the 6-speed manual transmission if you like a more hands on experience. There's also a turbocharged engine, standard on the EX-T, EX-L , and Touring trims, that produces 174-horsepower if you like even more kick to your ride.

Elbow Room

Though technically a compact, the Honda Civic offers plenty of room to stretch out. Boasting some of the best interior volume out of the compact sedan class, you won't feel cramped. The 15.1 cubic feet of space in the trunk means that you'll have plenty of space to haul whatever you need to, from groceries to luggage. If you opt for the hatchback variant, you'll get even more trunk space at 25.7 cubic feet.

Lots of Standard Features

Even if you don't spring for an upgraded trim, you'll still be leaving with plenty of standard features, like automatic climage control, rearview camera, folding rear seat, and a 4-speaker AM/FM audio system with USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and 5-inch screen.

This gives the Honda lineup a good spread of resale value across several categories, which means that regardless of what type of vehicle you're shopping for (sedan, compact car, SUV, or truck), there's a Honda for you.

Road Trip Games for Family Trips

Posted by Community Honda on February 3, 2017

Before you head out on a road trip, you should do several things in the planning stage including making reservations, getting your vehicle serviced – or at least checked – at Community Honda, and making a list of road trip games to keep the family entertained while you are on the road.

Radio Game

Turn the radio off. Have each player choose a word. Turn the radio on. Listen carefully for your words. When you hear word – if you are the first person to hear your word – you are the winner.

The Question Game

Take turns asking questions just to see what kind of answers your family comes up with. For example, ask what three things would you take with you if you had to spend a year on a deserted island, ask who a person's heroes are and why, if you had the chance to eat lunch with a famous person, who would the person choose?

Word Sequence

Choose a topic. It can be any topic from animals to fruit to places. Have one person start with anything in that category. The next person has to name something in that category that starts with the last letter of the named item. For example, if the first person chooses “rabbit,” the next person has to think of an animal that starts with a 'T.' You can't use the same word twice unless the children are very young, in which case, they can have that handicap. They can also have three “passes” before getting dropped from the game.

The Rhyming Game

Have a person pick a word. The next person has to say a word that rhymes with the first person's word. The game is played until a person cannot think of a rhyming word. You can give younger players hints.

Honda Civic Gets Tuned Up For 2017 Release

The Honda Civic has been a much-beloved addition to the Honda lineup for years, and the 2017 model shows no sign of bucking that trend. Truth be told, the 2017 Honda Civic may be our favorite Civic we’ve seen at our Pasadena TX area Honda dealer yet. This comes thanks to a variety of new and returning features, as well as a spectacular ride quality that’s enhanced with an available 1.5L turbocharged engine that’s capable of churning out up to 174-horsepower. In such a light vehicle, that’s a lot of power!

2017 Honda Civic near Pasadena TX

The 2017 Civic features aggressive styling that’s not over the top. It’s obvious this model offers some thrills in the driver’s seat, but it’s not the type of design that gets you pulled over for speeding while sitting at a stop light. This is a look that appeals to many, not everyone wants to drive the fastest vehicle on the road. In the cabin, the 2017 Civic is roomy and comfortable. It seats five, and the ergonomically designed driver's seat is built to keep you firmly in control of your vehicle.

Advanced Tech and Safety for Pasadena TX Area Honda Drivers

Interior of 2017 Honda Civic near Pasadena TX

There’s no shortage of the latest and greatest technological advancements for Pasadena TX area shoppers in the cabin of the 2017 Honda Civic either. Available satellite-linked navigation helps drivers navigate their way along difficult routes, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are offered, making it simple to access many of your favorite smartphone features using the intuitive controls of your vehicle. In addition, a wireless charging mat has been added to the 2017 Civic, so you can easily keep your compatible devices charged wherever you go.

Complementing the technology that keeps you entertained is the technology that keeps you safe. This 2017 model features a variety of innovative active safety features, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning. These features use sensors to detect your distance from other vehicles and objects, as well as lane markings, to keep you out of trouble. Should you get too close to either, this model lets you know using a series of auditory and visual warnings.

Car Organization Tips

Posted by Community Honda on January 27, 2017

You don’t have to wait until spring to do some organizing and cleaning. A clean car is a happy car and the new year, with its numerous resolutions, is all about finding happiness. Try these organization tips to get your car neater and more pleasant to drive.

Get a Backseat Organizer

With numerous choices on the market, you can find a good backseat organizer at most stores. Just strap one to the back of a front or mid-row seat and keep the clutter off the seats and floor. This is especially great for kids in the back seat on longer road trips. All of their toys and games can be stowed on the organizer, which will help control the clutter.

Get a Car Trash Can

These can also go on the back of a seat, but regardless of where they’re placed, they can help immensely. We all know the situation: you’ve got a bunch of trash you don’t know what to do with, maybe the remains of a fast food meal you had to eat in the car. Lacking options, you toss it behind you into the back seat and forget all about it. A few days later, that forgotten bag starts to smell. Avoid having a trashy vehicle by having a designated place to put all your trash.

Evaluate the Essentials and Toss the Rest

If you still find you have too much clutter, go to your car the next opportunity that you have, clean out what’s obviously trash, and then look at what items are left. If you don’t expect ice, do you really need the ice scraper? If it’s the depths of winter and the days are cloudy, do you really need that sun visor? The best way to deal with clutter is to simply eliminate it and avoid putting it back in your car.

Use Storage Areas Whenever Possible

This seems like common sense, but it’s worth mentioning. Whatever you do keep in your car, stow it away in one of the vehicle’s storage areas. Put whatever you can (as neatly as you can) into the glove box, under the seats, and in the trunk.

Honda Moves Up in Popularity

Posted by Community Honda on January 20, 2017

According to AutoNews.com, Honda jumped two spots to top Google’s luxury-heavy “Year in Search” list of the trending automotive brands in the U.S.

Under Google’s new ranking methodology, Honda, was one of the only brands that remained on the list this year, even moving up the list.

While the 2016 results aren’t directly comparable with last year’s, they're still a good indicator of what brand consumers are most interested in. The 2015 ranking was based on “most-searched” names while 2016’s methodology used “trending” names. A Google spokeswoman described trending data as those names with the highest and most-sustained spikes of search traffic.

Honda stepped up from third place in 2015 to take the number one spot in 2016. The Honda brand maintained a high level of interest throughout the year with increased numbers of search queries revolving around future products such as the 2017 HR-V, CR-V and Pilot.

Stop by Community Honda

If you want to see why Honda trended almost all of 2016, just come test drive one at Community Honda. Getting behind the wheel of a Honda will answer any questions you may have on why Honda remains such a popular brand.

2017 Honda Ridgeline w/ Honda Sensing™ and LED Headlights Wins 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick+

Honda is a brand that’s accustomed to being number one, so it’s no surprise to us here at Community Honda that the brand has accomplished another first. This year, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety named the 2017 Honda Ridgeline with Honda Sensing™ and LED headlights a 2017 Top Safety Pick+, making it the first and only pickup to earn this distinction. At Community Honda, our Honda dealer serving Houston, we’ve been recommending this innovative pickup to anyone and everyone who comes on our lot.

2017 Honda Ridgeline near Houston

Honda has long been considered a top leader in safety ratings. Its models have flaunted a wide variety of active and passive safety features for years, and the Honda Sensing™ suite is the brand’s latest contribution to the game. Available on the 2017 Honda Ridgeline--as well as the new Civic, Accord, CR-V, and Pilot--the Honda Sensing™ suite includes advanced features such as a Collision Mitigating Braking System™ with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

A Practical Choice For Houston Area Honda Drivers

In addition to the safety features highlighted above, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline offers Houston area shoppers a variety of unique innovations to love. For example, in the bed of this new pickup is a lockable trunk with a drain plug. Whether you need to stash your gear out of sight, store wet supplies, or just need a cooler to load with ice and beverages, the new 2017 Ridgeline has you covered. Also found on this pickup is an available in-bed audio system, which allows you to be the life of the party at any tailgating event or outdoor activity.

Don’t think all this innovation comes at the price of pick up either, as the 2017 Ridgeline comes ready to get to work when needed. Under the hood, drivers will find a 3.5L i-VTEC V6 engine with direct injection that’s capable of churning out up to 280-horsepower and 262 lb.-ft of torque. This powerful engine sits on top of a multi-link rear suspension that helps to ensure a smooth ride over any terrain, and its durable unibody construction allows drivers to cruise with confidence.

Road Trip Games for Family Trips

Posted by Community Honda on January 13, 2017

Car Lover's Holiday Gift Ideas

Posted by Community Honda on December 23, 2016

Sometimes, it's really difficult to think of something for a friend or loved one for Christmas. Well, if that person loves cars, you've just opened yourself up to a bunch of new ideas. In addition to car accessories available at Community Honda, you have tons of other options for car lovers.

Dash Device

Analyze your driving habits with Dash to save on gas and let it tell you what's wrong with your vehicle should your engine light come on so that you know what your Hyundai service technician is talking about when you bring your vehicle in for repairs. The device complements the app and is available starting at $10.

Multi-Phone Charger

Do you have that one friend or relative that always forgets to charge his or her phone? Grab a multi-phone charger that will charge phones and nearly all other USB devices while on the go. Not only is it useful in the car, but it's also useful in the house or office so that you eliminate hogging all of the outlets.

Remote Vehicle Starter System

Grab a remote vehicle start system for the person who always seems to be late. He or she can start the vehicle from the house while finishing up getting ready or waiting for the kids. The car will be nice and warm and will be a breeze to clear the snow and ice from the windshield and other windows since everything will be warmed up.

V8 Cufflinks

For the white collar guy on your list who likes to ditch the suit for a pair of jeans and a grease-stained t-shirt to work on his own vehicle, grab a pair of V8 sterling silver cufflinks. They just scream that the receiver would rather be working on his “baby” instead of sitting in a stuffy meeting.

Battery Jump Box

Everyone should have one of these in the vehicle since you never know when you're going to forget to shut off the lights or have a dead battery. Some battery jump boxes even come with a built-in air compressor in case you get a flat tire.

Holiday Sides

Posted by Community Honda on December 8, 2016

Roasting a home or turkey for the holidays is just part of the day. You'll need all of the great sides that go with it, too. Give your sides a kick this year if you really want to impress your family and friends. If any of the ingredients aren't normally in your pantry, kill two birds with one stone by going to the grocery store and stopping by Community Honda to test drive a new Honda.

Mashed Potatoes

Add garlic powder or roasted garlic to the mashed potatoes. If you've never made garlic mashed potatoes yourself, just start with 1 teaspoon for every 2 pounds of potatoes. You can add more for more garlic flavor.

Sweet Potatoes

While sweet potatoes taste great with butter, kick it up a notch by adding brown sugar. While mashing them, add a stick of butter for 4 to 5 pounds of potatoes. Start out with a half cup of light or dark brown sugar. If you want a sweeter taste, add more brown sugar.

Green Beans

Kick the green beans up a notch by cooking them with onions and bacon. Fry a couple slices of bacon until they're translucent. Remove the bacon from the pan and add julienne onions. If you are using fresh green beans, add them at the same time you add the onions. If you are using frozen green beans, add them when the onions are about half done. They are done when they are translucent. And, if you're using canned green beans, drain them and add them in the last few minutes of cooking – just enough time to warm them up. Chop the bacon into bite-size pieces and add it to the pot about 5 minutes before the onions are done. Season the dish with pepper or even a little garlic.

Succotash

Since it's hard to find find succotash, you can make your own. Simply mix two cans of creamed corn with one can of Lima beans and heat it up. Season it with salt and pepper. Add butter and serve hot.

Best Hill Country Road Trips to Take in Your Honda

Posted by Community Honda on November 25, 2016

If you've never explored the Texas Hill Country, do yourself a favor and check it out. With plenty of interesting places to go and fun activities to do, the Texas Hill Country is centrally located around the Austin area and is only a day trip away from Baytown.

Marble Falls

Just 45 minutes west of Austin, Marble Falls' main attraction are its three lakes: LBJ, Buchanan, and the eponymous Marble Falls. For golf lovers, there's also the popular Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Luckenbach

Country music fans will recognize the name. Luckenbach has been referenced by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. It's a tiny place with just a general store, post office, and some picnic tables, but if that and some live country music are enough for you, it's a place to relax and recharge away from it all.

For those not versed in its history, the town was founded in the 1800s and was beneath notice until 1970 when an entrepreneur purchased the town (population of 3) and built a dance hall that started to draw regional attention.

Fredericksburg

Like most of the Texas Hill Country, there's heavy German influence from the numerous German settlers that came to central Texas in the 1800s, but Fredericksburg holds on to more of that culture than most places.

When approaching the town, you won't be welcomed... you'll instead see a sign saying "Wilkommen." The city square is called Marktplatz and there are numerous German-themed restaurants serving both German food and Texas fare.

Shoppers will enjoy the town's main street, which is filled with boutiques and artisans.

New Braunfels

If you're more interested in activities as opposed to dining and shopping, New Braunfels is the place to go.

Another German settlement, New Braunfels today is popular for the Guadalupe River and the watersports you can enjoy there and for the water resort Schlitterbahn.

Visit Community Honda

Before hitting the road for any Texas Hill Country destinations (or anywhere else, for that matter), remember to stop by at Community Honda to get your vehicle serviced and make sure that you're road trip ready. Child Passenger Safety Tips

Posted by Community Honda on October 26, 2016

Stop by Community Honda this week to test drive a new Honda with safety features for children. Most vehicle feature the LATCH child seat system and door and window locks to keep your children in the vehicle and to protect them in an accident.

Safety Seat Choices

Choose the appropriate child seat for your child. If you don't want to buy several seats, choose an all-in-one seat that converts from a rear-facing seat for newborns through 3 years of age to a forward-facing seat for children from 2 years to 5 or 6 years, depending on the child's height; and again converts to a booster seat for children up to 12 years of age, depending on the child's height.

Child Locks

When your are looking at new vehicles, choose a vehicle with child door locks and either window locks or safety windows that roll down only half way in the rear. Not only do door locks prevent your child from opening the door on his or her own, but it prevents others from opening the doors to get at your child.

Remembering Your Child

While you may think it could never happen to you – and hopefully it never does – there is the possibility that you could forget your child is in the back seat, especially if he or she is sleeping. Keeping your purse, briefcase or something else that you need to take with you in the back seat forces you to check the back before you go into work or go into the house. You could also put one of your child's toys in the front seat to remind you that your child is in the back seat.

Visit Community Honda

Stop by Community Honda to test drive a new vehicle that features the LATCH system and rear child door locks so that it is easier to keep your children safe in the vehicle.

Fall Maintenance Checklist for Your Honda

Posted by Community Honda on October 12, 2016

Fall not only means apple pie, cider, pumpkins and straw bales, but it also means that it's time to get your vehicle ready for the rest of the fall season and any possible winter weather that might show up earlier than expected. Check your owner's manual for any special maintenance your vehicle requires, then contact the service department at Community Honda for a service appointment.

Filters

Check the oil, gas and air filters. Don't forget the cabin air filter. Your Honda may require a different weight oil, so when you bring it in for the oil change, remind your service adviser that you need the oil weight for winter, especially if you will be traveling where it gets super cold.

Brakes and Tires

It is important that brakes and tires – and the braking system – is up to par during the fall and winter months. Your tires should have plenty of tread on them in the event it snows earlier than you expect. Make sure the entire braking system is working properly. If the ABS light is on, be sure to have the ABS system checked.

Belts and Hoses

Have the hoses checked for leaks and make sure they aren't dry rotted. When it's time to turn the heat on, you want it to work, especially if you are trying to melt the frost off the window. Belts are also important and need to be checked for wear and to see if they are dry rotted. Your vehicle may have a serpentine belt, V-belts or a combination of both. The belts run the air conditioning, alternator, power steering and the water pump. In some cases, the timing belt runs the water pump; if it is time to change the timing belt, have your service technician change the water pump – it's the same amount of labor to get to either part.

The styling is also new and is both rugged and refined. The aerodynamic exterior helps it reduce wind noise and drag.

The interior is just as innovative and intuitive. The comfortable cabin has an available 8-inch Touch-Screen Display and Push Button Start. The display is dynamically colored and sports a 4.2" Multi-Information Display, while the steering wheel hosts convenient controls for answering the phone, changing the song, or turning up the volume.

Your Fall Honda Maintenance Checklist

Posted by Community Honda on September 19, 2016

Stop by Community Honda today to test drive a new Honda or call our service department to make an appointment to have your vehicle serviced or to have it checked for the upcoming fall and winter months.

‘Now Is the Moment’ Ad Campaign Unveiled By Honda

If you’re a Honda fan near Beaumont, you’ve probably noticed some unique new ads recently. That’s because, this year, the end of the summer is being met with once again by Honda’s annual Summer Clearance event, which will feature the debut of six new music videos depicting that exact moment that Cupid’s arrow nails a Honda fan to the object of their affection—in this case a new Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Fit, or Odyssey. Under the title “Now Is the Moment", this video campaign was kicked off on July 18, 2016. It can also be found in digital and social media placements by the brand.

“This eye-catching campaign celebrates that moment when a buyer falls for a new Honda, and the Honda brand begins an enduring connection with the customer. Ultimately, our goal is to break through the car sale-event clutter and remind people that summer is the best time to get a great deal on a Honda," said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President of Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

The new ad campaign is a celebration of America’s diversity in regards to its love of a huge array of musical styles and genres. As such, the ad campaign consists of six different videos, which feature a variety of musical styles. In the Honda Accord video, sharp, cherry-suited rockers cover a top pop song in doo-wop style. For the Civic video, a classic 1960s girl group does their own rendition of a hit ballad. This theme continues for the other videos composing the campaign.

Ghost Towns to Visit in the US

Posted by Community Honda on July 29, 2016

Before you plan your ghost town road trip, be sure to call Community Honda for a service appointment to have your vehicle checked or serviced. If you planned on buying a new vehicle this summer, stop by to test drive a new Honda before you leave so that you can take a brand new vehicle on your road trip.

Bodie, California

Bodie is the largest unreconstructed ghost town in America. The town features 200 original preserved buildings including a saloon, jail and a schoolhouse. Bodie was established in 1859. Originally, this gold-mining town was just a camp of 20 miners, including William S. Bodey, who discovered the gold in the area.

During the California Gold Rush, the small camp bloomed to a city with over 10,000 people, 60 bars and a red-light district. By 1942, Bodie was abandoned. The California parks system protects the site, but leaves in in a state of “arrested decay.” When you visit, you'll see fully stocked stores, chairs, pool tables and cutlery right where it was left all those years ago.

Silver City, Idaho

Visit the Owyhee Mountains and Silver City in southwestern Idaho. Silver City was founded in 1864 as a gold and silver mining town. The town has not been restored for tourists – it is left as it was when it was abandoned. As of today, 40 preserved buildings remain, including the old hotel. Though there are few guest amenities, the hotel has 20 rooms with modern facilities. The stay is free, though the owner asks for a donation if you had a good experience staying in a building that has been abandoned.

Monson Village, New Hampshire

Monson Village was settled in 1737 and was one of the first inland settlements in the state. The Gould House, which was built in 1856, has been restored. Other than that, you'll find cellar holes and foundations of original homes. This “park” covers 221 acres and has trails so that you can follow the paths that once existed in this town. You'll have fun recreating what the village might have looked like as you travel the trails.

Baytown Honda Fans, Meet The 2017 Ridgeline

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline in Baytown has a new look for the new model year, but what hasn’t changed is its unprecedented cargo and people-hauling capabilities, as well as Honda-infused sophistication. While the model looks decidedly more like a traditional pickup than the Ridgelines of the past, a quick glance at the specs of this vehicle make its differences gleefully evident.

2017 Honda Ridgeline available in Baytown

“We’ve advanced the best and most beloved elements of the original Honda Ridgeline and combined them with an outstanding new platform and the most advanced technology to create new value in the midsize pickup segment. The result is an amazingly versatile Honda truck with uncompromised capability," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division.

As we have come to expect from the brand, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline at our Baytown Honda dealer delivers best-in-class EPA fuel economy ratings—but this doesn’t compromise the model’s power or capability. The direct injected 3.5L i-VTEC™ V6 engine under the hood combines with Intelligent Variable Torque Management™ and some of the most advanced and innovative all-wheel-drive technology around to deliver robust performance on (or off) the road.

Pure Innovation, Inside and Out

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline comes loaded with some of the most advanced and innovative technology Honda has to offer. Shoppers at our Baytown Honda dealer will be delighted by the 8-inch touchscreen display, which features both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability for seamless smartphone connectivity—but that’s just the beginning. With the available truck bed audio system, the only such system currently on the market, your vehicle will quickly become the life of the party at any outdoor get-together.

Interior of Honda Ridgeline at our Baytown Honda dealer

Speaking of outdoor get-togethers—don’t fret if you forget your cooler. In fact, you can just get rid of that old thing altogether! The Ridgeline features an in-bed lockable trunk with a drain plug. So whether you just need a safe place to stash your gear, or you’re looking to load up with ice and beverages, this model has you covered.

While we’d be happy to continue extolling the features of this fantastic vehicle, the best way to experience all it has to offer is to come by and check it out for yourself. To schedule a test drive of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, contact Community Honda at (844) 863-2917.

The All-New Civic Coupe Is Anything But "Square"

Posted by Community Honda on June 3, 2016

If you are in the market for a new coupe, but think the new Civic might be too “square,” stop by Community Honda to test drive the Civic – you'll learn that it's not quite so square. The all-new Civic coupe is ultra stylish and refined. You may have seen the commercials on TV, digital or even in print that point out the Civic coupe's advanced features and new styling.

The television commercial shows that everything is square, including people, a dog, wheels and more. But when the Civic comes out, you see a new design with sporty curves. For now, the commercial is in a square format, but will be converted to full screen when the Civic coupe is available at dealerships.

According to Susie Rossick, the assistant vice president of marketing at American Honda, the Civic's new and bold styling resets customers' expectations for compact cars. She stated that the new campaign shows that the new Civic coupe doesn't conform to vehicle expectations.

The 2016 Honda Civic Coupe

The new tenth-generation model has a new engine with new turbo technology. The new Honda Civic coupe will also feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Later in the year, Honda will be releasing the Civic 5-door hatchback; and in 2017, the Civic Si and the Civic Type-R.

Best Memorial Day Road Trips

Posted by Community Honda on May 26, 2016

After you pick up your new vehicle from Community Honda, you'll be ready to head out for a road trip for Memorial Day. While you could take a long road trip, you wouldn't have time to see a lot of things if you only have the long weekend. That said, choose one or two of these trips to spend your time on.

The Guadalupe

Head out to the Guadalupe River for some rafting. Take I-10 to Exit 607 and then bear left at the fork in the ramp to turn right on N TX-46. Stay on that through its changes to S TX-46 and TX-46. Make a right on N IH-35 and then take Exit 191 for FM 306 and Canyon Lake. Guadalupe River Tubing and Rafting is about 14 miles on the right. Enjoy a relaxing day or two on the river. Coolers are allowed, but glass bottles are not. If you get an extra tube, you'll be able to take your cooler on the river with you. Pack a picnic lunch and plenty of cool drinks.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park

This road trip is about 310 miles, but it's worth it to climb one of the most popular spots: Penitentiary Hollow. You'll need to have some rock climbing experience for this trip. The park is located at 100 Park Road 71, Mineral Wells, TX 76067.

Colorado Bend State Park

Head out to Colorado Bend State Park, located west of Lampasas. From US 281 and 183 in Lampasas, take FM 580 west to Bend. This is about 24 miles. Follow the signs for four miles to find the park entrance. If you are coming from San Saba, take US 190 for about 4 miles to FM 580 and then follow the signs to Bend, then look for the signs to the park entrance. Be sure you fill up with gas before leaving those cities as there is no gasoline in Bend. Be sure to bring your camera and a picnic lunch to enjoy near the river. The camping area is about 6 miles from the entrance.
