What Is Honda Sensing®?
Honda Sensing® is Honda's suite of driver-assistive and safety technologies, built around a camera system and radar sensors that constantly scan the road ahead. The collection made its first debut back in 2014, and it's designed to catch the things drivers might miss, such as a car braking suddenly ahead, a vehicle drifting into a blind spot, or a lane the car is quietly wandering out of. Honda Sensing® features are standard on all Honda vehicles, though the exact lineup of features and which trims get the more advanced ones varies by model.
How the Core Features Work
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)1 uses the camera and radar to detect a potential frontal collision with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist. It first warns the driver, then automatically applies the brakes if no action is taken, and on many models can now include Advanced Pedestrian Detection for added coverage in areas with foot traffic.
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)2 and Lane Departure Warning (LDW)3 watch the lane markings ahead. If the car starts to drift without a turn signal, RDM can gently apply steering and braking to help nudge it back, while LDW simply alerts the driver.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)4 goes a step further, providing continuous, gentle steering input to help keep the car centered in its lane — useful on long stretches of I-10 where fatigue or distraction can cause small drifts.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)5 with Low-Speed Follow maintains a set following distance from the car ahead, automatically slowing and accelerating with traffic, and — on most models — bringing the car to a complete stop and resuming without driver input.
Blind Spot Information (BSI) System6 and Cross Traffic Monitor use rear-mounted radar to flag vehicles in adjacent lanes and warn of traffic approaching from the side when backing out of a parking spot.
Traffic Sign Recognition7 reads posted speed limits and other signage via the windshield camera and displays them on the dashboard, while Auto High-Beam Headlights and Driver Attention Monitor round out the suite. The former switches between low and high beams as you pass other drivers on your way home from W.L. Jenkins Park, and the latter watches for signs of drowsy or distracted driving and suggests taking a break.
Some newer and higher-end models add Traffic Jam Assist, which combines adaptive cruise and lane-centering for stop-and-go traffic, plus parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
Which 2026 Honda Models Have It
All 2026 and 2027 Honda models are equipped with the standard Honda Sensing® suite. This means the 2027 HR-V, 2026 Prologue, 2026 CR-V, 2026 Passport, 2026 Pilot, 2026 Accord, 2026 Civic, 2026 Prelude, 2026 Odyssey, and 2026 Ridgeline all include the standard features mentioned above. What wasn't said we as that the tires were hazardous. My husband told the service attendant that he was traveling to Alabama. On his way back, a tire blew out causing a serious accident. Thankfully no one was injured. When he checked the tire, the threads were exposed in the inside. There's no reason that he shouldn't have been warned not to drive home on these tires. While it's not the delawe's fault that the tire failed, we believe they had a duty to warn their customer if the tires' hazardous conditions. Very disappointed that this didn't happen. ”
